Regions Bank hired Lee Byrd as Head of Fraud. In this newly created role, Byrd will focus on protecting customers and the company from financial fraud and will report to Logan Pichel, head of Enterprise Operations.

“As the occurrence of fraud rapidly increases throughout the financial services industry, we are committed to protecting both our customers and our company from financial losses. As part of this commitment, we are creating an enterprise singular focus on fraud within Enterprise Operations,” said Pichel. “Lee has more than 20 years of experience in corporate security, information technology, and fraud mitigation and he will bring his extensive background to bear as we continue to strengthen our efforts to prevent financial crime.”

Byrd joins Regions from BBVA Compass where he was director of Fraud and Physical Security. During his 20-year tenure, he also served as chief security officer and director of Information Technology. Prior to that, Byrd held a variety of roles in information technology and business.

Regions Financial has $129 billion in assets and is one of the nation’s largest full-service providers of consumer and commercial banking, wealth management, and mortgage products and services. Regions serves customers across the South, Midwest, and Texas, and operates approximately 1,500 banking offices and 2,000 ATMs.
