BDO Consulting Adds Welch to Business Restructuring and Turnaround Services Practice

byPhil Neuffer

in People

Nick Welch joined BDO Consulting Group’s business restructuring and turnaround services practice as a director in the firm’s Miami office. Welch will primarily cover the regional markets in the Southeast.

Welch has more than 20 years of experience in professional services and has spent the last nine years advising lenders, investors and management teams on debt and operational restructuring strategies, as well as on transaction services such as diligence, quality of earnings, sell-side advice and valuation.

Welch has helped senior lenders, private equity groups, family offices and management teams navigate business challenges and release or create cash flow through debt restructuring, operational improvements, and M&A strategy and execution.

Welch has experience throughout the corporate life cycle — from startup to liquidation — but focuses on the turnaround and stabilization of challenged companies, stakeholder management and transaction advisory. His experience spans multiple industries in the U.S. and Europe, including retail, leisure and hospitality, healthcare, renewable energy and fintech.

Welch was awarded the Turnaround Management Association’s “Young Turnaround Professional of the Year” award and is a board member of the TMA’s NextGen Atlanta chapter. He is also a fellow chartered accountant of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW).

“Nick is a great addition to BDO Consulting’s growing business restructuring and turnaround services practice. His multi-discipline advisory experience complements our current restructuring team in the Southeast and Nick is an important addition as we continue to expand our national practice,” Jim Loughlin, business restructuring and turnaround services national practice leader for BDO Consulting, said. “BDO Consulting’s restructuring presence now includes professionals located in 14 cities throughout the U.S., which allows us to better serve our clients and the restructuring community. With restructuring professionals in 46 countries throughout the world, BDO delivers its global capabilities locally.”
