Bain Capital Credit Completed $2.7B of Financing Investments in 2021

Bain Capital Credit’s private credit group invested $2.7 billion to support the growth of middle-market and private equity-backed companies in 2021.

Bain Capital Credit’s private credit group invested in more than 100 businesses across 32 industries in 2021, supporting the refinancing, leveraged buyout and add-on acquisition activity of both new and existing portfolio companies. With a track record of investing in middle market private debt dating back to 1998, the private credit group has invested approximately $18 billion across over 400 portfolio companies since inception.

Additional 2021 highlights include:

  • Invested $2.7 billion across more than 100 distinct portfolio companies, including to 38 new platforms

  • Served as lead lender on approximately 70% of new commitments
  • _x000D_

  • Strong credit performance across its diversified portfolio of 190 middle market businesses
  • _x000D_

  • Closed on over $2 billion of new capital for investments
  • _x000D_

“Our strong deal pipeline enabled us to remain active in identifying compelling new opportunities to invest our flexible capital alongside private equity sponsors and middle market companies,” Michael Ewald, a managing director and global head of the private credit group at Bain Capital Credit, said.  “We believe our scaled capital base across our senior direct lending and junior capital strategies, coupled with our differentiated global and sourcing capabilities, positions us well to continue to be a value-added partner of choice to growth-oriented management teams and sponsors.”
