Alvarez & Marsal appointed John Jibilian managing director in its public sector services’ (PSS) education practice. Jibilian advises institutions of higher education on envisioning, realizing and implementing operational capabilities that span student, faculty, staff and alumni services.

“We work hand-in-glove with clients to generate equitable and effective education processes that help unlock students’ and lifelong learners’ potential,” Erin Covington, a managing director/co-leader of the public sector services and education practice leader, said. “John’s deep sector knowledge combined with A&M’s operational heritage furthers our ability to meet clients’ needs with maximum efficiency. His digital and technology expertise will help academic institutions achieve their transformation goals and capitalize on future growth opportunities. He shares our results-driven mindset and value creation approach.”

Jibilian’s work with higher education clients has resulted in measurable stakeholder experience and administrative efficiency improvements. He has advised dozens of institutions on assessing performance, prioritizing action and leading change across areas including process reengineering, shared services, contacts centers, enterprise applicants and data management. His notable track-record of leveraging innovative methods and delivering digital solutions, including, mobile-first, analytics-driven and cloud-based approaches, has enabled multiple operational transformations.

Prior to joining A&M, Jibilian served as executive vice president and chief digital/information officer at Southern New Hampshire University. In that role he led the transformation of business processes and implemented mobile solutions serving prospects, applicants, students and staff.

Previously, Jibilian led the office of business transformation at Yale University, directing a multi-year transformation of its operations that addressed finance, research administration, human resources and information technology. Additionally, he pioneered Yale’s adoption of cloud technology, agile methods and customer relationship management (CRM) approaches across student experience, alumni relations and administrative shared services.

“A&M helps institutions reshape their operations to best execute on their missions and maximize the outcomes of their investments,” Jibilian said. “The firm’s analytical horsepower and commitment to delivering impactful outcomes aligns with my professional philosophy and our clients’ ongoing needs.”
