Hilco Global’s intellectual property services group, an advisor in intangible asset valuation, advisory and monetization, has been retained to manage the sale of the intellectual property and related assets of PicoBrew, a company in automated craft beverage appliances for consumer and commercial applications.
The offering presents an opportunity to acquire all or selected portions of a portfolio that includes 17 active patents and patent applications, engineering and design files, product concepts and other related materials. The assets may provide strategic value to companies in the beer, coffee, tea, kombucha, spirits, beverage-appliance and housewares sectors seeking to enhance existing product lines or accelerate entry into new product categories.
PicoBrew’s product lineup includes the Pico Pro and Pico C homebrewing appliances; the Pico U Multibrew platform for beer, coffee, tea, kombucha and other beverages; the PicoStill accessory for spirits-related applications; and the Z-Series brewing machines and KegSmarts kegerators for commercial use. Its technology was designed to automate and optimize key beverage-production variables, including time, temperature and fluid flow.
“PicoBrew was a true innovator in the consumer and commercial craft beverage space, and its portfolio has applications well beyond beer,” Eric Hurwitz, senior director at Hilco Global, said. “The assets are relevant to several substantial and growing beverage and appliance markets, including craft beer, craft spirits and household coffee machines. The assets offer prospective buyers a differentiated technology and product development platform that can be evaluated for use across consumer and commercial beverage applications.”
