Cohen Capital Markets (CCM), a division of Cohen Securities, an indirect, controlled subsidiary of Cohen, launched a dedicated private credit advisory practice, further expanding its capital markets platform. The new offering provides middle-market companies with tailored debt financing solutions and specialized credit expertise alongside CCM’s established M&A advisory and public and private capital-raising capabilities.
To lead the practice, CCM has appointed Daniel Sheriff as managing director, head of private credit and Christian Watson as director of private credit. Together, they bring extensive experience across credit advisory, debt structuring, underwriting and institutional banking.
As private credit continues to grow as an important source of corporate financing, companies are increasingly seeking flexible capital solutions beyond traditional bank lending. CCM’s new practice is designed to help clients evaluate and access these alternatives to support growth initiatives, acquisitions, recapitalizations and refinancing transactions.
“The addition of a dedicated private credit team is an important step in the continued evolution of our capital markets platform,” Jerry Serowik, head of CCM, said. “Our clients rely on us across the full spectrum of strategic and financing decisions. Daniel and Christian enhance the expertise we bring to those conversations, strengthening our ability to deliver thoughtful advice, tailored solutions and successful execution.”
A six-year veteran of both the U.S. Marine Corps and Army, Sheriff brings a disciplined and analytical approach to complex financing situations. His experience spans corporate banking and structured credit, including financial modeling, underwriting and capital structuring. Prior to joining CCM, he advised companies on complex credit solutions at Catalyst Strategic Credit Group and underwrote debt facilities at PNC Financial Services Group for businesses ranging from middle-market enterprises to Fortune 500 companies.
Watson complements that experience with more than a decade advising management teams on financial operations, treasury management and working capital strategy. His background includes credit origination and placement, emerging technology and venture banking, with prior experience at both Catalyst Strategic Credit Group and PNC Financial Services Group.
