Archway FinCo appointed Matthew Lesser as managing director of originations. Based in the New York metro area, Lesser brings more than 20 years of experience in commercial banking, asset-based lending and specialty finance to Archway’s growing originations platform.

In his new role, Lesser will be responsible for originating and structuring ABL and specialty finance transactions across the middle market, with a focus on building and deepening relationships with private equity firms, specialty finance companies, investment banks and restructuring advisors throughout the Northeast and nationally.

“Matt has a depth and breadth of knowledge and relationships that will help Archway connect and work with more businesses who need access to capital,” Andrew S. McGhee, CEO and founder of Archway FinCo, said. “His experience across the ABL, specialty finance and private credit ecosystem is exactly the kind of market presence that accelerates our mission of providing capital solutions from $10 to $50 million.”

Lesser joins Archway from First Citizens Bank, where he held a senior origination and business development role focused on delivering ABL and specialty finance solutions for middle-market companies and financial sponsors. Prior to that, he spent a significant portion of his career at CIT Group in similar origination-focused roles, working closely with private equity firms, independent sponsors, specialty finance platforms and turnaround professionals to structure creative financing solutions across both sponsored and non-sponsored transactions.

Throughout his career, Lesser has built longstanding relationships across the sponsor, lender and advisor landscape, with particular depth in the ABL, restructuring and private credit communities. He is known for his collaborative, market-facing approach and deep connectivity across the ABL, specialty finance and capital markets, with a track record of bringing together sponsors, lenders, borrowers and advisors to structure optimal financing solutions.

“I’m energized by the opportunity to join Archway at such an exciting stage of growth,” Lesser said. “The combination of experienced leadership, entrepreneurial thinking and a relationship first approach aligns with the needs of middle-market borrowers and the referral network I’ve built throughout my career, and I’m excited to help expand the firm’s presence across the market.”

Lesser holds a bachelor of science in finance from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business and is a CFA charter holder. He lives on Long Island with his wife and two daughters.
