Matthew Huppert joined Winston & Strawn as a partner in Washington, D.C as a member of the litigation department and the antitrust and competition practice. He comes to the firm from the U.S. Department of Justice’s antitrust division, where he served as a trial attorney and counsel to the assistant attorney general.
Huppert is a first-chair trial lawyer who brings extensive litigation experience, a deep knowledge of antitrust and a fresh enforcement perspective, further strengthening the firm’s market leadership in litigation, antitrust and government investigations. At the DOJ, Huppert served in lead roles on trial teams in monopolization and merger cases and advised antitrust division leadership on the division’s civil litigation portfolio under both the Biden and Trump administrations. Prior to serving at DOJ, he worked in private practice for seven years, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in all stages of high-stakes litigation matters, and served in multiple federal clerkships.
