CohnReznick, a professional services firm, added Ryan Sturma as a partner in its financial services practice. Based in Boston, Sturma will lead audit and assurance teams serving private equity and venture capital funds, mutual funds, broker-dealers, investment advisers and management companies.
Sturma has extensive expertise across both public and private financial service clients, with extensive experience in U.S. GAAP and IFRS reporting, annual and semi-annual/quarterly shareholder reports, security counts, seed audits, net capital and custody rule compliance and internal controls (including SOX 404).
In addition to his fund and valuation knowledge, Sturma has led complex global group audits, managing consolidation, tax/transfer pricing and local statutory requirements across EMEA, APAC and the Americas. He has also collaborated closely with internal audit teams to design and execute comprehensive controls testing programs.
“Ryan’s deep understanding of the assurance landscape for private equity firms, their portfolio companies and the broader alternative investment ecosystem adds significant strength to our growing financial sponsors and financial services practice,” Jeremy Swan, managing partner, financial sponsors and financial services at CohnReznick, said. “His extensive financial services experience and leadership in audit transformation initiatives will deliver meaningful value to our clients and our practice.”
Sturma joins CohnReznick after 18 years at a Big Four firm, where he most recently served as a managing director, audit and assurance. He holds an M.S. in accounting and a B.A. in business administration from Boston College.
