WebBank appointed Philip Gitler as senior vice president – head of lender finance. In this capacity, Gitler will be responsible for overseeing and growing the bank’s asset-backed lending business. Under Gitler’s leadership, the lender finance team will focus on providing debt capital to fintech / specialty finance companies and asset-backed private credit fund managers. The team will initially specialize in asset-backed warehouse facilities as well as back-leverage facilities with credit funds. Specifically, the bank will engage in bilateral credit facilities and provide administrative agent services for larger syndicated facilities as well as participate in other bank syndications. Gitler seeks to leverage the bank’s strong position in consumer and small business sectors as well as expand into other specialty finance asset classes that can benefit from his domain expertise. Gitler intends to build on WebBank’s reputation as a FinTech leader and innovator in digital banking, and as a premier issuing bank and funding solutions provider to top platforms in the space.
Gitler has over two decades of experience in the asset finance industry, with deep experience across asset classes in origination, transaction structuring, execution and portfolio management. Prior to joining WebBank, he served as chief strategy officer at CURO Group and managing director and portfolio manager at Waterfall Asset Management, where he led and built-out the firm’s asset-backed private credit effort. His career also includes significant roles at Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch and his own advisory business, PMG Advisors.
Gitler holds an M.B.A from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in finance from the Pennsylvania State University.
“In charting the future of our Lender Finance business, we knew we needed a proven leader with both vision and execution acumen,” Jason Lloyd, president and CEO of WebBank, said. “Phil’s deep expertise, industry connections and solutions-oriented approach uniquely position him to expand our asset-backed lending business and drive long-term growth for WebBank.”
