Mohammed Shaheen rejoined Latham & Watkins’ Chicago office as a partner in the banking and private credit practice. Shaheen represents banks and private credit funds in complex credit facilities, leveraged and acquisition financings, and restructurings.

“We are delighted to have Mohammed rejoin our team, bringing with him a reputation for excellence and a track record of delivering outstanding results for clients pursuing their most important financing goals,” Mary Rose Alexander, managing partner of Latham & Watkins’ Chicago office, said. “His return to Latham comes at a time of accelerating investor interest in private financing solutions and strengthens our ability to deliver innovative, high-quality support on the most challenging mandates.”

Shaheen has significant experience representing lenders in both the syndicated and private markets and in restructurings across a variety of industries. His practice focuses on the structuring, negotiation and administration of senior credit facilities, including acquisition, asset-based, bridge, cross-border and multi-currency financings.

“Mohammed’s technical excellence and commercial insight further cements our position as the premier firm for clients’ most sophisticated financing needs across the public and private markets,” Dan Seale, global chair of Latham’s banking and private credit practice, said. “His ability to navigate complex transactions and deliver tailored solutions across diverse financing strategies and industries will be a tremendous asset as our clients pursue new opportunities in an evolving credit landscape.”

“Latham is the go-to firm for clients navigating the fast-changing syndicated and private credit markets, and I am excited to rejoin a team that sets the standard for excellence in this space,” Shaheen said. “I look forward to leveraging the firm’s unmatched global platform and expertise across disciplines to help clients stay at the forefront of the market and deliver tailored, creative solutions to their most pressing financing challenges.”

Shaheen rejoins Latham & Watkins from Stanford University, where he was engaged in education and research. Shaheen was a partner in Latham’s banking and private credit practice from 2014 to 2019. He received his JD from Harvard Law School and BA from the University of Chicago.
