Perkins Coie added Sarah Bowman to its private client services practice as a partner in the Seattle office. Bowman focuses on sophisticated estate planning, estate and trust administration and family office structuring for high-net-worth families.
Bowman has significant experience advising individuals, families, beneficiaries, fiduciaries and business owners across a broad range of complex personal planning matters. Her practice spans family wealth transfer planning, tax planning, business and entity succession planning, asset strategy protection, privacy planning and charitable giving. She also frequently guides high-earning clients and families in the development and management of family office structures.
“Sarah is a high caliber estate planner who develops trusted relationships with her clients to drive efficient and beneficial outcomes for their tax affairs, estate planning and trusts,” Scott Wallace, firmwide chair of Perkins Coie’s private client services practice, said. “Sarah will play a pivotal role in the expansion of our private client services, and we know that our clients will benefit from Sarah’s informed counsel and insights. She’s an excellent lawyer and a great person.”
In addition to advising clients on complex probate estate and trust administration proceedings, Bowman is also adept at assisting clients with navigating trust and estate disputes and litigation.
“Perkins Coie has a preeminent reputation for delivering the best client service and outcomes for family offices and successful individuals and for providing effective strategies to help them achieve their goals,” Bowman said. “I look forward to deploying the full scope of my experience and capabilities for our clients with tailored solutions to meet their needs in a fast-changing world. I am excited to be joining such a dynamic and collaborative team.”
Bowman is active in the wider legal community, serving as a fellow of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, a national committee of estate planning lawyers. She also serves on the Washington State Bar Association’s Real Property Probate and Trust Executive Committee and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and events.
Highly engaged in philanthropic work in the local community, Bowman is a member of the Seattle Children’s philanthropic advisory council and the community board for Seattle Children’s Hospital Chronic Recurrent Multifocal Osteomyelitis Program. She is also the co-founder and president of the nonprofit, Butterfly Guild of Seattle Children’s Hospital, aiming to fund research to support better treatments for children with bone marrow failure.
Bowman joins Perkins Coie from K&L Gates, where she served as co-practice group coordinator for the firm’s global tax practice and the leader of the family office industry group. She holds a B.S. from Northwestern University and a J.D., summa cum laude, from Seattle University School of Law.
