Andrea Pipitone Beirne is the lead partner of KPMG LLP’s Due Diligence for Lenders Practice within the Deal Advisory and Strategy group. She provides due diligence and structured finance consulting services, specializing in analyzing and modeling structured finance transactions, evaluating asset-based and asset-backed debt structures and supporting acquirers with financial, cost-saving and synergy analyses.
With over 32 years of experience, including 23 years with KPMG and nine years at Arthur Andersen LLP, Beirne has worked across manufacturing, aviation, distribution, retail and services, handling both international and domestic transactions.
Beirne has long recognized the need for the industry to compete in terms of both technology and talent. Operating within a highly regulated environment like banking, she has seen how slow technological transitions can be. In response, KPMG has taken a multi-disciplinary approach, delivering industry-specific technology solutions to clients and thinking creatively to address the talent competition.
To address talent sourcing, KPMG developed a program to support neurodiverse talent, allowing team members to bring unique problem-solving perspectives and improving the workplace for everyone. Another innovation was the introduction of live captioning for video conferences at KPMG, supporting employees with hearing impairments. Initiated during the COVID-19 pandemic, the feature was rolled out company-wide and shared with clients, encouraging them to adopt similar practices.
Beirne predicts rapid change in how people interact with AI tools and how those tools will impact the pace and nature of work. As automation becomes more prevalent, professionals will need to ensure the reliability of AI outputs, shifting how financial reviews, underwriting and monitoring are conducted.
She believes that with strong collaboration and mentorship, leaders can overcome obstacles and create lasting impact. As a great leader once told her, legacy is built not on deals, but on better processes and future leaders mentored.
