Stefana Kornicer is a seasoned leader in asset-based lending (ABL), with over 16 years of experience spanning underwriting, relationship management and portfolio oversight. She is currently Vice President and Account Executive at Gibraltar Business Capital, where she has underwritten and closed eight funded facilities since 2022, leveraging collateral that includes A/R, inventory, equipment and real estate.
Her ABL journey began at Wells Fargo Capital Finance as part of its Financial Analyst Program — a rotational bootcamp-style launch that gave her a foundational education in its Specialty Finance, Business Finance and Supply Chain Finance units. “It was a great way to hit the ground running,” she says.
Over time, Kornicer advanced to Credit Analyst, Association Relationship Manager, Portfolio Analyst and Relationship Manager roles within Wells Fargo Capital Finance’s Business Finance unit before moving into a Business Analyst Manager role at the bank’s Electronic Reporting Solutions (ERS) group.
“Despite gaining incredible experience in the ERS group, I missed credit,” she shares, reflecting on her move back into underwriting at Wells Fargo before landing at Gibraltar.
Kornicer thrives on the complexity of ABL. “I’m a deeply curious person. I love learning about different industries and structuring creative credit solutions,” she explains. That mindset extends to mentorship, where she advocates for inclusive growth. “My mission is to be a trusted resource — creating space where people feel safe asking questions and exploring challenges.”
Kornicer has broken barriers through authenticity and drive. “Ladies — don’t be afraid to take up space,” she advises. “Be curious, advocate for yourself and pursue what excites you.”
Kornicer’s career reflects relentless drive, intellectual curiosity and a deep commitment to shaping a more inclusive financial community. Her contributions have not only delivered strong outcomes for her clients but also helped set a new standard for culture and leadership in the industry.
