Paige Runyard, CPA, joined First Business Bank in 2015 with over a decade of experience in consumer banking and business accounting. She began in Asset-Based Lending and rose to Field Examiner Team Lead, then transitioned into a Credit Officer role. Now Assistant Vice President – Senior Credit & Portfolio Manager, Runyard leads Team Leaders and Account Managers serving factoring and ledgered-line clients.

One of Runyard’s proudest accomplishments was managing a complex, 18-month liquidation of a $3.5 million facility. She coordinated debt collections, creditor payments and legal disputes with competing lenders. “We not only recovered the full amount — plus additional funds — but retained a new client from the process,” she says. It tested her negotiation, financial analysis and leadership. “That project validated my approach to tough situations and reminded me why I love this work.”

Runyard finds fulfillment in helping others grow. “My team is already talented. I try to notice small things that can elevate their work and offer observations that open new perspectives.” She believes coaching moments ripple outward, strengthening the team and benefiting clients. “Sometimes making a difference isn’t about big wins — it’s about helping someone reach their potential.”

Since the start of her career, Runyard has seen the gender imbalance in specialty finance, especially in leadership roles. “It takes confidence to speak up in rooms where you’re the youngest — or the only woman — but that’s how progress happens.” As the industry evolves, she’s taken on more responsibility earlier than expected. Mentorship, she says, doesn’t have to be formal. “Some of my greatest growth came from colleagues who explained their thinking or encouraged me to ask questions.”

Through the IFA NEXGEN committee, Runyard supports others in specialty finance. “By connecting people, sharing opportunities and fostering relationships, we strengthen individual careers and the industry overall.”
