Director
Sound Point Capital Management

Asyera Theng has lived in eight different countries and speaks six languages fluently, which has been foundational in her efforts to build international client relationships and expand Sound Point Capital Management’s global footprint

Theng is currently a director at Sound Point, where she evaluates investment and financing opportunities for the capital solutions strategy in the company’s private credit vertical. She has more than 15 years of extensive credit experience in structuring, analyzing and closing both corporate and asset-based lending solutions.

Theng has effectuated nearly $700 million of accounts receivable and ABL financings through the Sound Point platform in the past year, providing creative deal structures to solve problems for companies in distressed situations and those facing challenges in accessing traditional bank financing.

Theng often encounters the challenge of a client facing a potential default. Theng says it is crucial to approach these situations with a proactive and adaptable mindset to support the company’s recovery.

Cultivating a strong network has always been a major priority for Theng, as she believes it is essential for gaining support, guidance and access to new opportunities. Theng also prides herself on being thoroughly prepared at all times, allowing her to anticipate challenges and avoid complacency to minimize unforeseen risks. In addition, Theng prioritizes fostering robust team dynamics.

“Our lean team capitalizes on the diverse expertise each member brings, contributing to our efficiency and overall strength,” Theng says. “These lessons have not only shaped my career but have also played a pivotal role in driving our collective success.”

As her career continues to progress, Theng’s goal is to continue focusing on developing effective and innovative deal structures to meet the evolving needs of companies, especially in distressed and special situations, providing tailored solutions that set Sound Point Capital Management apart.
