The Wall Street Journal reported that PNC’s William Demchak and former U.S. Bank chief Richard Davis have declined offers to replace Tim Sloan at Wells Fargo. Sloan resigned in March after a rocky tenure.
According to the Journal, Wells is pursuing JPMorgan’s Gordon Smith, who is considered a top candidate to run JPMorgan if CEO Jamie Dimon departs and is likely to stay put.
