Alvarez & Marsal Expands Public Sector Services

Alvarez & Marsal has expanded its Public Sector Services practice with the addition of Michael Carrasco as managing director in Houston and Jay Nagy as senior director in New York.

Carrasco’s expertise in information technology, legal and international affairs, and revenue growth will enhance A&M’s capabilities to address federal, state and local agencies’ complex needs.

Nagy, who has an extensive background in the healthcare sector and in corporate finance and strategy, will utilize his skills and experience to grow A&M’s services that support states’ implementation of managed long-term services and supports (MLTSS) programs.

“Governments and their managed care partners are coping with unparalleled challenges in handling rising costs and evolving market dynamics. The combination of A&M’s operational heritage, foresight and response to market demands allows us to help clients address challenges and adapt to change,” said Erin Covington, managing director and co-leader of the firm’s Public Sector practice.

Carrasco joined A&M from Gartner, where as a managing partner he spearheaded the growth of its Information Technology Research, Advisory and Consulting businesses at the office of the Department of Defense’s Chief Information Officer. Prior to Gartner, he was a director with PwC’s Public Sector Consulting practice. Before joining the private sector, Carrasco served at the Departments of Justice, Defense and State, where he led teams that advanced U.S. national security in East Asia, Middle East, North Africa and Latin America.

Nagy was the founding CEO of Advance Care Alliance of New York, a Medicaid Care Coordination Organization serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Prior to that, he was a senior director of Network Strategy at CareCentrix, a managed care organization; and served as associate principal of Corporate Strategy at The Advisory Board Company, a healthcare best practices research and technology firm. He began his career in investment banking at Houlihan Lokey.
