CIBC Innovation Banking Expands Denver Team, Makes Several Promotions

CIBC Innovation Banking hired Ron Singh as a managing director for its Denver office.

With more than 20 years of industry experience in business development, deal structuring and team leadership, Singh was previously a senior vice president in Denver at Bank of America.

“I’m looking forward to making an immediate impact on the Mountain region,” Singh said. “In four short years, CIBC Innovation Banking has become the No. 2 lender to U.S.-based series A-C tech and life science companies. Our ecosystem thrives on agility, commitment and experience, and I know that I’ve found the right fit in CIBC Innovation Banking.”

CIBC Innovation Banking also promoted Sean Duffy to head of UK and Europe for the company, Joe Hammer to co-head of life sciences and healthcare and Caroline Tkatschow to executive director, while Paul McKinlay, a Toronto-based managing director covering the growth equity sector, has taken on the added responsibility of Canadian market leader. Jeff Chapman, a managing director based in Menlo Park, CA, will continue as the other co-head of life sciences and healthcare, a position he held before CIBC Innovation Banking’s acquisition of Wellington Financial in 2018 and has continued to hold ever since.

Duffy joined the company in 2021 as a managing director with the opening of CIBC Innovation Banking’s United Kingdom office. Hammer was previously the managing director in CIBC Innovation Banking’s Boston office. McKinlay joined Wellington Financial in 2013 as an associate and remained with CIBC Innovation Financing following the acquisition. Tkatschow joined CIBC Innovation Banking in 2018 in Toronto from the firm’s mid-market investment banking group and transferred to the company’s New York office in 2021.

“Our bank strives to serve the needs of entrepreneurs and venture capital firms,” Mark McQueen, president and executive managing director of CIBC Innovation Banking, said. “These moves demonstrate our ongoing commitment to ensuring that the innovation economy is well-financed, particularly during these volatile markets. As we continue to develop and grow our team in each and every key market, we will rely on this successful combination of internal promotion and external recruiting. If you are looking for an entrepreneurial opportunity with an experienced and fun team and clear career upside, look no further than CIBC.”
