VSS Capital Partners Invests in Lumenci

VSS Capital Partners, a private investment firm investing in the healthcare, education and business services industries, completed a new platform investment in Lumenci, a full-service intellectual property consulting firm, in association with Century Equity Partners, a Boston-based private equity firm. Financial terms of the private transaction were not disclosed.

“Lumenci understands how to support clients through the host of challenges that arise with patent monetization campaigns, and knows what it takes to create value for law firms, OEMs and other firms involved in IP litigation,” Patrick Turner, partner and senior managing director at VSS, said.

“Founders Harish, Kalyan and their talented team have done an excellent job building Lumenci’s innovative and differentiated platform and we’re delighted to partner with them in their next chapter,” Michael Gebhardt, principal at VSS, said. “Lumenci offers a truly unique solution in what we believe is a fragmented and underserved market.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with VSS and Century Equity Partners and with their support, we intend to bring our expanding suite of services to a broader set of clients,” Harish Daiya, co-founder and CEO of Lumenci, said.

“Our new investors share our conviction that Lumenci’s strong client focus and plans to expand our services and geographic reach will enable us to create value for our customers, employees and shareholders,” Kalyan Banerjee, co-founder and chief growth officer of Lumenci, said.

As part of the transaction with Lumenci, VSS’s Turner and Gebhardt will join Lumenci’s board.

Clearsight Advisors served as financial advisor to Lumenci and Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman served as legal counsel, while Proskauer Rose provided counsel to VSS.
