Reid Wendell joined PlainsCapital Bank as senior vice president, senior relationship manager. Based at PlainsCapital’s Kirby location in Houston, Wendell brings 15 years of commercial banking experience.

In his new role, Wendell oversees a portfolio of commercial clients, builds new banking relationships and leads analysts who support portfolio management. He works directly with business owners and management teams to support growth, guide capital planning and structure tailored financing solutions.

“Reid is an exceptional banker with deep experience serving Houston-area businesses,” Danny Schroder, Houston region chairman at PlainsCapital Bank, said. “His proven ability to build lasting client relationships and lead high-performing teams makes him an outstanding addition to our organization.”

Wendell previously held senior commercial banking roles at Texas Gulf Bank and Cullen/Frost Bankers, where he managed middle‑market portfolios, guided lending teams and worked closely with business owners on a wide range of financing needs, including real estate, aircraft, working capital and equipment purchases.

He holds a BBA in finance and banking and financial institutions from Sam Houston State University and is a graduate of the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.

Wendell is currently a member of the South Texas Business Aviation Association and serves as the assistant vice president of Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 572. His prior community involvement includes serving as chairman of the Pearland Economic Development Corporation, director of the Pearland Prosperity Implementation Committee, committeeman of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, and as a mentor with the Pearland ISD RISE Program.

“I’m excited to join PlainsCapital Bank and look forward to supporting businesses throughout Houston,” Wendell said. “PlainsCapital’s focus on local decision‑making aligns well with my approach to banking.”
