Tarter Krinsky & Drogin added Terence “Terry” K. McLaughlin as a partner in the litigation group, bringing a wealth of high-level experience in commercial and healthcare litigation. McLaughlin expands the firm’s capabilities with a focus handling major disputes for healthcare organizations, insurers and corporate clients across a wide range of industries. His addition follows the recent arrivals of litigation partners David Lackowitz and Zaid Shukri, reflecting a period of significant expansion within the practice.
An accomplished commercial litigator with both senior law firm and in-house corporate experience and a former partner at Willkie Farr and Morrison Cohen, McLaughlin is known for his tenacity, sophisticated drafting and negotiation skills, and strategic approach to navigating complex legal and business challenges. His healthcare work spans high-stakes coverage disputes, pharmaceutical and medical-device agreements, clinical research arrangements and the structuring of health-system relationships to mitigate vicarious liability exposure. McLaughlin’s practice includes representing commercial health and life insurance carriers in multi-million-dollar coverage and contractual disputes with both in-network and out-of-network providers, as well as advising one of the nation’s largest hospital systems in designing organizational structures that minimize systemic liability risks.
“Terry’s deep experience in handling sophisticated healthcare and commercial disputes brings tremendous value to our firm and our clients,” Alan Tarter, managing partner of Tarter Krinsky & Drogin, said. “His arrival accelerates the continued expansion of our litigation group and strengthens our ability to serve clients in one of the most highly regulated and fast-evolving industries.”
Andrew Krinsky, chair of the litigation group, added, “Terry combines exceptional judgment, technical skill and an understanding of the challenges faced by today’s healthcare organizations and business leaders. His experience elevates our team and enhances the counsel we provide to clients facing their most critical matters.”
McLaughlin also advises C-suite executives on strategic litigation decisions, corporate governance and enterprise risk management. He has led numerous matters through trial and appeal and has significant experience in restructuring proceedings and franchise, distribution, real estate, governance and financing-related disputes.
“I am thrilled to join Tarter Krinsky & Drogin at such an exciting moment in the firm’s growth,” McLaughlin said. “The firm’s deep commitment to collaboration and client service aligns perfectly with my own approach to complex litigation and healthcare advisory work. I look forward to contributing to the continued success of the litigation group and helping our clients navigate their most consequential challenges.”
