Chris Stecher has joined Frost Brown Todd’s (FBT) San Francisco office as a partner in the business and commercial litigation practice group. With more than two decades of experience in securities, employment and complex business litigation, his arrival further enhances the firm’s litigation capabilities and contributes to its ongoing growth in California.

“Chris’ ability to guide clients through every stage of litigation — from early strategy and discovery to trial, arbitration, and appellate advocacy — makes him an invaluable asset to our clients,” Peter M. Cummins, leader of FBT’s business and commercial litigation practice group, said. “He brings deep experience in securities arbitration, employment class actions and complex business disputes, consistently delivering results grounded in integrity and sound judgment. His arrival greatly bolsters our national litigation platform and underscores Frost Brown Todd’s continued investment in California.”

Stecher joins the firm from Keesal, Young & Logan. He has defended brokerage firms and financial advisors in securities arbitration forums such as the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and regularly represents employers in wrongful termination, discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour, and unfair competition matters. Stecher also brings significant experience in business litigation involving restrictive covenants, trade secrets, defamation, breach of contract, unfair competition and trademark infringement.

“Chris’ strategic acumen and outstanding track record representing financial institutions and employers in high-stakes disputes make him an exceptional addition to the firm,” Theodore A. Bacon, partner-in-charge of FBT’s San Francisco office, said. “His practice is as multifaceted as it is impactful, spanning FINRA arbitration, employment litigation and high-net-worth business disputes. He’s not just a litigator; he’s a strategist, a counselor and a trusted partner to his clients.”

Stecher manages all phases of litigation, from pre-suit investigation and discovery to dispositive motions and resolution to trial and arbitration. He has also handled appellate briefings before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and argued before the California Courts of Appeal. In addition to his litigation practice, Stecher regularly advises clients in areas such as employee discipline, employee compensation and benefits, non-compete laws, wage and hour issues, leaves of absence and compliance with any number of other local, state and federal laws.

“I’m thrilled to join Frost Brown Todd and contribute to a team that values collaboration, excellence and client service,” Stecher said. “The firm’s growth in California is exciting, and I look forward to working with my new colleagues to serve our clients as they navigate today’s increasingly complex business and regulatory landscape.”

Stecher has earned numerous professional accolades for his excellence in litigation and employment law, including recognitions from America’s Top 100 Civil Defense Litigators, Lawdragon’s Leading U.S. Corporate Employment Lawyers and 500 Leading Litigators in America, and San Francisco Magazine’s Top Attorneys in Northern California.

A longtime leader in both legal and local communities, Stecher serves on the executive committee of the Federal Bar Association’s Northern District of California Chapter, where he is currently president-elect, and on the board of directors of California ChangeLawyers. He is also a member of San Francisco’s St. Thomas More Society and volunteers as a youth sports and mock trial coach.
