Seward & Kissel added Jacob Comer as partner in the firm’s investment management practice specializing in venture capital formation and transactions.

Comer has extensive experience leading fund formation, cross-border fundraising and complex deal structuring. He has a background as both a legal and investment executive overseeing regulatory strategy, fund launches and high-stakes transactions.

“Jacob’s arrival marks an exciting moment of growth in our preeminent investment management offering,” James Cofer, managing partner of Seward & Kissel, said. “His joining allows Seward & Kissel to formalize and grow our venture capital group.”

Comer comes to Seward & Kissel from Novaquest Capital Management, where he served as a member of the executive committee overseeing all legal matters. Earlier in his career, he spent nearly a decade in the investment management group of a large international law firm.

“We are delighted to welcome Jacob to Seward & Kissel,” Kevin Neubauer, partner and co-head of the firm’s investment management group, said. “His background in both in-house and Big Law uniquely positions him to address our clients’ sophisticated venture capital needs.”

“I’m excited to join Seward & Kissel and help grow a dedicated venture capital practice that builds on the firm’s market-leading private funds practice,” Comer said. “With a client base that includes over a third of the top 50 private equity and private debt firms, Seward & Kissel offers an exceptional foundation to expand the Firm’s capabilities in venture capital formation and transactions.”

“Jacob’s addition to the Firm reflects our continued commitment to serving the evolving needs of the industry,” Gary Anderson, partner in the business transactions group and member of Seward & Kissel’s management committee, said. “His unique blend of legal acumen and executive experience in venture capital and fund formation will be a tremendous asset to our clients navigating complex transactions and emerging investment strategies.”

Comer received his J.D. from the Washington and Lee University School of Law. He received his B.B.A. from Marshall University.
