Star Mountain Capital, an employee-owned investment firm, added Angela Rodell as a senior advisor. Rodell will support Star Mountain’s mission by leveraging her institutional investing expertise to educate institutional and high net worth investors on the diversification and return benefits of having exposure to lower middle-market private credit. She will also leverage her public finance leadership experience to enhance Star Mountain’s portfolio companies’ governance and leadership diversity.
Rodell is a seasoned financial executive with over 30 years of experience leading public and private institutions through complex financial landscapes, strategic growth initiatives and global investment management. Recognized for innovation in sovereign wealth and public finance, she has consistently fostered collaboration and delivered measurable results in the management of multi-billion-dollar assets.
Rodell served as CEO of Alaska Permanent Fund, where she led a diverse investment team, modernized trade, risk and operating systems and oversaw growth in AUM from $50 billion to $80 billion. Prior to that, she was commissioner of the Alaska Department of Revenue, responsible for building the state’s financial position and overseeing more than $100 billion combined across retirement and state funds. Rodell initially joined the Department as Deputy Commissioner in 2011. She began her public finance career in New York as a senior investment banker and financial advisor, managing capital financing plans for U.S. state and state-agency clients.
“Star Mountain’s focus on disciplined, long-term investing and thoughtful risk management aligns closely with the principles that have guided my work in institutional settings,” Rodell said. “I look forward to supporting the firm’s strategy and stakeholders through a collaborative, practical approach that emphasizes consistent execution and durable results.”
Brett Hickey, founder and CEO of Star Mountain Capital, added, “Angela’s leadership across sovereign wealth and public finance, coupled with her track record modernizing complex organizations and stewarding large pools of capital, brings a valuable lens to our team and the investors we serve. We are pleased to welcome her as senior advisor and confident her institutional expertise and governance focus will strengthen our long-term, partnership-driven strategy for investors and portfolio companies.”
