Post Road Equipment Finance (PREF) appointed two experienced professionals to its commercial team. Rich Johnston has joined the firm as a senior managing director on the capital markets team and Brian Wood has joined as a managing director in PREF’s private equity sponsor coverage team.

Johnston will work with the capital markets team to originate and participate in indirect equipment finance opportunities on a national basis as Post Road continues to scale its capital markets platform. He will report directly to Martin Ferguson, senior managing director and head of capital markets.

Johnston most recently served as senior managing director of capital markets at Peapack Capital, where he was responsible for indirect originations of large ticket equipment finance transactions on a national basis. Johnston has worked with several non-bank and bank equipment finance organizations throughout his career.

Wood will work with the PREF sponsor coverage team to originate direct equipment finance opportunities on a national basis for private equity fund owned companies as Post Road continues to scale its sponsor coverage platform. He will report directly to Wren Rex, senior managing director and head of sponsor coverage.

Wood joins Post Road from CoreTech, where he led a sales team focused on information technology leasing. He brings over a decade of experience in equipment finance, including prior roles at Fifth Third and Summit Funding Group.

“I am delighted to have both Rich and Brian joining Post Road’s commercial team,” Rick Matte, president and CEO of Post Road Equipment Finance, said. “We have collaborated with Rich as a partner on a number of transactions. He has a wealth of equipment finance capital markets experience, and we look forward to adding his capabilities and expertise to our capital markets team. Brian brings an impressive blend of bank and non-bank equipment finance experience, and we are confident that he will add tremendous value and depth to our sponsor coverage team.”
