Mortell Joins Ankura as Senior Managing Director

Financial and restructuring services expert and digital media strategist Michael Mortell has joined Ankura as senior managing director.

Based in New York, Mortell brings more than 25 years of experience in investment banking, finance, turnaround and restructuring, technology, and digital media advisory services along with established relationships in the North American middle market private equity community.

At Ankura, Mortell will utilize his significant and leveraging his expertise in management consulting, mergers and acquisition, private equity capital, and capital structure advisory to further the development of Ankura’s turnaround and restructuring, technology and digital media, and related practice areas.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have Michael joining the Ankura team as we continue to strengthen our private equity capital offerings, supplement our talent depth in the restructuring and turnaround practice, and reinforce our commitment to providing clients with highly impactful solutions,” said Kevin Lavin, co-president at Ankura. ”

Mortell spent the last five years as a managing director and senior adviser for AdMedia Partners/GP Bullhound, leading marketing services and technology advisory firms, where he focused on providing M&A advisory and consulting services to technology, marketing communications, and digital media companies. Earlier in his career, he was a managing director and group head of Prudential Securities’ Private Equity Financing Group.

Mortell also was a management consultant at a nationally recognized turnaround and restructuring firm where he provided strategic counsel and advisory services to troubled companies and their creditors.
