Legacy Corporate Lending, an independent asset-based lending (ABL) company focused on serving the needs of middle market companies across North America, appointed David Smith as managing director of originations. Smith will be based in New York and will be responsible for leading the origination and structuring of new transactions in the Northeast region.

Smith has more than two decades of ABL and restructuring experience across a wide array of industries. Most recently, he served as a director in Citi’s asset based and transitional finance group. Since joining Citi in 2005, Smith has held various credit and risk management roles of increasing seniority. He is a graduate of St. Lawrence University.

“Dave brings to Legacy over 20 years of experience at a leading commercial bank and we are delighted to welcome him as the newest addition to our best-in-class leadership team,” Clark Griffith, CEO of Legacy, said. “His deep industry expertise in financing and credit, as well as his strong network of relationships further enhances our capabilities and business development footprint as we move upmarket and offer larger credit facilities to our clients.”
