The Wall Street Journal reported that last minute online shoppers salvaged a shortened holiday season for retailers.
According to the Journal, total U.S. retail sales for Nov. 1 through Christmas Eve rose 3.4% from a year earlier.
Online sales continued to set the pace, rising 18.8% during the period, compared with growth of 1.2% for in-store sales, the Journal added.
