Dykema’s Lansing Office Adds Government Policy Advisor Bel Martin

in People

Dykema, a national law firm, added Bel Martin as a government policy advisor in the firm’s Lansing office. Martin joins Dykema after nearly three years with Ascension Health as state policy and advocacy manager. Prior to that, she spent five years on the staffs of various Michigan state senators and representatives.

At Dykema, Martin will regularly assist organizations in monitoring state legislation and supporting our state and federal legislative and administrative work, representing clients before the Michigan legislature and executive agencies.

In her role with Ascension Health, Martin provided oversight of key federal and state advocacy initiatives and programs. Throughout her career, she has built strong relationships at the State Capitol. Martin’s prior experience includes serving as deputy chief of staff for senate majority leader Mike Shirkey. She also served as legislative director in the Michigan House of Representatives.

“We are very excited to have Bel Martin join our dynamic and diverse lobbying team,” Alan Wilk, leader of Dykema’s government policy practice and its political compliance team, said. “Her experience and contacts in healthcare and on staff in the House and Senate will serve our current and future clients very well.”

Martin earned a J.D. from the Western Michigan University Cooley Law School and a B.A. in English literature from Alma College.
