Dykema Expands Houston Office, Doubling Headcount with Addition of Seven Attorneys

Dykema doubles its Houston office with seven key attorney hires, strengthening its foothold in energy, finance, corporate law, and more.

HOUSTON – Dykema, a leading national law firm, has expanded its Houston office, adding seven attorneys across key practice areas. This significant expansion doubles the office’s headcount, reinforcing Dykema’s presence in energy, bankruptcy and restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, business taxation and planning, corporate and finance, labor and employment, and business immigration.

The firm welcomes Arthur Nathan, William Hotze, Kari Lutringer, James Prappas, and Michael Twomey, who all join from Kane Russell Coleman Logan PC, as well as Michael Durrschmidt and Kim Lewinski, who come from Hirsch and Westheimer P.C.

Strategic Expansion in Texas

Dykema opened its Houston office in 2022, marking its fourth location in Texas, following Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio. The new attorneys bring decades of experience representing financial institutions, energy companies, private equity firms, real estate developers, and Fortune 500 corporations.

    • Over 40 years of experience advising on corporate transactions, tax strategies, and business planning.
    • Former partner at Jones Day and Haynes and Boone.
    • Ranked in Chambers USA for Corporate/M&A.
  • Michael Durrschmidt – Restructuring and Bankruptcy
    • Nearly 40 years at Hirsch and Westheimer, serving as President of the firm.
    • Focuses on creditors’ rights, bankruptcy, debt restructures, and banking litigation.
  • William Hotze – Restructuring and Bankruptcy
    • Experienced in bankruptcy litigation, corporate restructurings, and financial disputes.
    • Has first-chaired contested hearings and represented debtors, trustees, and creditors.
  • Kim Lewinski – Restructuring and Bankruptcy
    • Specializes in complex Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases and creditors’ rights.
    • Extensive experience advising Fortune 500 oilfield service companies on vendor bankruptcies.
  • Kari Lutringer – Corporate and Finance
    • Represents buyers and sellers in M&A transactions, restructurings, and capital transactions.
    • Advises energy, real estate, banking, and financial services clients.
  • James Prappas – Labor and Employment, Business Immigration
    • Over 30 years of experience in employment-based and family-based immigration.
