Winston & Strawn welcomed Joshua “Josh” Hafenbrack as a partner in the Washington, D.C. office. Hafenbrack joins the firm as a partner in the litigation department with a focus in antitrust matters.

Hafenbrack represents both plaintiffs and defendants in complex civil litigation and antitrust matters. A recent senior litigation counsel at the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) antitrust division, Hafenbrack brings significant experience litigating antitrust cases and representing clients in a wide variety of industries, including technology, media and telecommunications.

“I am excited to join Winston’s commercial litigation and antitrust teams as the firm continues to expand these practices in key markets, especially Washington, D.C.,” Hafenbrack said. “The firm has a well-earned reputation for handling high-stakes litigation and antitrust cases, and I look forward to working with my new colleagues across the firm.”

At the DOJ, Hafenbrack was a member of the DOJ’s trial team in a high-profile search monopolization case. He also helped lead merger and monopolization investigations in a variety of other industries.

“We are delighted to welcome Josh to Winston,” David Rogers, Washington, D.C. office managing partner at Winston & Strawn, said. “As a first-chair antitrust litigator, Josh’s track record in both private practice and government service makes him exceptionally well-suited to serve our clients. The addition of Josh further strengthens our national antitrust practice and supports the firm’s continued growth in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.”

“Josh’s recent work at the DOJ includes leading roles in major antitrust cases where he demonstrated expertise in high-stakes litigation and gained unique insights into the regulatory landscape,” Tom Melsheimer and Linda Coberly, litigation department co-chairs for Winston & Strawn, said. “This blend of trial experience and government service positions him as a powerful advocate for our clients facing complex regulatory challenges.”
