William Blair continued the expansion of the firm’s private capital advisory investment banking practice with the addition of two senior hires, as Matthew Flynn joined the company as managing director and Hudson Collins joined as a director.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Matt and Hudson to William Blair and the private capital advisory team,” Mike Custar, head of private capital advisory at William Blair, said. “Their addition to our team significantly enhances our fund placement platform, further expanding our capital formation capabilities for our financial sponsor clients.”

Based in Charlotte, NC, and focused on fund placement in the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast and South regions, Flynn has 17 years of private fund placement experience, including fund evaluation, market preparation and primary distribution services for clients. Flynn joined William Blair from Campbell Lutyens, where he served as managing director in private capital advisory, and Credit Suisse, where he served as a director in the private funds group.

Collins will be based in New York. He has more than 10 years of private fund placement experience, with a particular focus on fund distribution. He joined William Blair from Credit Suisse, where he served as a director in the firm’s private funds group. He also has held roles with Eaton Partners (the private capital advisory subsidiary of Stifel Nicolaus), MVision Private Equity Advisers and McColl Partners.

“It is my pleasure to join William Blair’s private capital advisory group, a growing team providing financial sponsors and limited partners a comprehensive suite of advisory and capital raising solutions,” Flynn said. “Together with Hudson, I look forward to building on the firm’s expansion into fund placement, where we can leverage existing sponsor relationships to integrate into the firm’s platform.”
