B. Riley promoted Andy Moore to president, where he will be responsible for the operations of the firm’s brokerage business. The firm also hired Jon Merriman as senior managing director and head of Capital Markets.

Moore joined B. Riley in 2006 as an institutional sales professional, moving on to director of Sales in 2011. Moore’s responsibilities have included raising capital for a broad range of small-cap companies, making investment recommendations to institutional clients and introducing and marketing management teams to a wide range of hedge funds and mutual funds across the country. Prior to B. Riley, Moore held sales positions at Roth Capital Partners and Bear Stearns.

“Andy’s leadership has been a key reason why we have consistently outperformed our peers and are adding talent and expanding our company, while others are downsizing,” said Bryant Riley, chairman of B. Riley.

Merriman brings more than 25 years of experience in the investment banking, brokerage and trading businesses. He has deep experience in corporate turnarounds, capital markets transactions and growing organizations. Over the course of his finance career, Merriman has served on several private, public and non-profit company boards and continues to be active as a board member and advisor. Prior to B. Riley, Merriman was co-chairman and CEO of Merriman Holdings.

“Expanding our investment banking and advisory businesses is a critical part of our growth plan at B. Riley Financial. The hiring of Jon and his team is consistent with that plan and I’m very pleased that they have chosen to continue their careers on our platform, leveraging for their clients the full suite of services we have developed,” Riley said.

B. Riley is an investment bank providing corporate finance, research and sales and trading to corporate institutional and high net worth individual clients.
