Michael “Mike” Kilgarriff joined Buchalter as a shareholder in its white collar and investigations group in Denver. Kilgarriff will also co-chair the firm’s state attorneys general group.

“Mike’s extensive experience handling high-stakes matters involving nearly every attorneys general’s office in the country strengthens our state attorneys general practice, and supports the continued national growth of our white collar group,” Adam Bass, president and CEO of Buchalter, said. “We are thrilled to welcome him to the firm.”

Kilgarriff’s clients include financial services companies, fintech platforms, cryptocurrency and digital asset businesses and other highly regulated industries. His work includes responding to civil investigative demands (CIDs), subpoenas, and government audits, negotiating multistate resolutions, and defending companies in state and federal courts.

“I’m excited for this opportunity to help lead Buchalter’s state attorneys general practice and add to the firm’s white collar defense capabilities,” Kilgarriff said. “The opportunity to work with such an outstanding group of lawyers, especially in a firm that shares my commitment to high-quality representation, aligns perfectly with my professional goals.”

Kilgarriff has worked directly with the state attorneys general of every U.S. state except Wyoming, as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. His State AG enforcement experience includes some of the largest multistate actions in the country, including a 39-state coalition enforcement action, as well as dozens of individual State AG lawsuits and investigations.

“Mike’s practical, deep knowledge of regulatory litigation is a great fit for our clients in Colorado and nation-wide,” Robert Hinckley, office managing shareholder of Buchalter’s Denver office, said. “We’re excited to have him in the Denver office.”
