Barnes & Thornburg (BT) welcomed partners Elizabeth Davis and Princess Fuller who further enhance and broaden the firm’s corporate department in various areas, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity, corporate governance and general business counseling.
Based in Chicago, Davis focuses her practice on M&A, corporate governance and general business counseling across various industries, including logistics, insurance, food and beverage, manufacturing and healthcare. She serves as outside general counsel to domestic and international companies with respect to all aspects of their commercial needs. Davis will be among nearly 150 BT lawyers in Chicago, the firm’s second largest office, serving clients in a wide range of practices.
Fuller resides in Atlanta and focuses her practice on M&A and private equity transactions across diverse industries while also advising on energy and infrastructure matters, particularly in renewable energy project finance. She represents clients in the development, structuring and negotiation of complex project financing transactions and negotiates credit, security and purchase agreements on behalf of sponsors, developers and lenders. Fuller’s arrival also further bolsters the firm’s growing Atlanta office, which has increased its overall headcount by over 200% since 2019.
“Liz and Princess are exceptional additions to our Chicago and Atlanta offices and our national platform,” Jahan Sharifi, chair of the corporate department, said. “Their track record of successfully closing transactions in various sectors will immediately benefit our clients. They both bring exactly the kind of innovative thinking and deal execution capabilities our clients demand in today’s complex corporate landscape.”
A pragmatic, business-oriented deal lawyer, Davis has broad M&A experience structuring and leading domestic and cross-border transactions, with a strong focus on health care, manufacturing and food and beverage deals.
Davis has been recognized as an Illinois Super Lawyers in Mergers & Acquisitions for 2026 and by Emerging Lawyer for Mergers & Acquisitions, Closely & Privately Held Businesses and Publicly Held Corporations from 2017 – 2023. She has been named among the Top Women Attorneys in Illinois by Chicago Magazine.
“This move represents an exciting new chapter in my career and an opportunity to serve clients on an even broader platform,” Davis said. “Barnes & Thornburg provides the right environment for me to elevate and expand my practice while continuing to deliver practical, business-focused advice to clients.”
Prior to joining BT, Fuller was a partner at McDermott Will & Schulte. Her experience includes advising on tax equity investments in distributed generation solar portfolios, a $350 million acquisition of a solar portfolio comprising 76 projects with 204 MW capacity and a $245 million bond offering for a Latin American infrastructure project. She has also counseled clients on healthcare platform acquisitions and private equity investments exceeding $200 million in renewable energy ventures.
Fuller has been recognized by Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America for Energy Law, Mergers and Acquisitions Law, and Project Finance Law; named to the National Black Lawyers’ Top 40 Under 40 in New York; and selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star for 2024 as a top-rated M&A attorney in New York. She serves as a board member of the New York City Bar’s African Affairs Committee.
“I am excited to join Barnes & Thornburg and contribute to the firm’s growing presence in Atlanta and beyond,” Fuller said. “The firm’s collaborative culture, sophisticated client base and commitment to excellence in both traditional M&A work and emerging sectors like renewable energy make this an ideal platform for my practice.”
