Barnes & Thornburg announced today that Joshua P. Hollingsworth has been appointed co-chair of the firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions practice group. Hollingsworth is based in Indianapolis and has been with the firm since 2005. He shares co-chair duties for the M&A practice alongside Kepten Carmichael.

Hollingsworth has over two decades of experience serving as a trusted advisor to clients ranging from established public companies and private equity funds to innovative startups. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), a leading M&A networking organization. His practice focuses on counseling business owners, outside investors and senior management in connection with the sale and acquisition of businesses and company assets, senior and mezzanine debt financings, equity capital raises, venture, private equity and hedge fund formation, spinoffs and separations, joint ventures, succession planning, and commercial contracts. Hollingsworth excels at crafting efficient solutions to complex problems and successfully closing complicated financing transactions.

“Josh’s breadth of experience and comprehensive approach to managing complex deals makes him an excellent fit to help lead our growing M&A practice,” said Andrew J. Detherage, managing partner at Barnes & Thornburg. “Our work supporting transactions has been a significant growth driver for the Corporate Department, and I’m confident Josh and Kep will lead our M&A team to new heights.”

Barnes & Thornburg’s Mergers & Acquisitions practice provides a full suite of legal services to strategic acquirers. Known for a sophisticated yet pragmatic approach, the team excels at problem-solving, negotiating, documenting, and closing even the most complex transactions, bringing strong business acumen and deep legal insight to every deal.

“It’s a privilege to take on this leadership role alongside Kep and such a talented team of deal-focused attorneys who consistently bring responsiveness and energy to every transaction,” said Hollingsworth. “I look forward to building on this strong foundation and continuing to deliver value to our clients.”
