ABF Journal shares the latest episode of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) 10-part Leading Edge Series, produced in partnership with Second Wind Consultants and Rise Alliance. The series spotlights the people and perspectives shaping the turnaround and restructuring industry.
In this conversation, Brian Gleason, TMA’s global president, sits down with Pauline Chow, managing director and principal at Birch Lake.
Chow described what it means for Birch Lake to be an opportunistic investor: identifying value in companies that traditional private equity firms have passed over. The firm focuses on lower middle-market businesses, particularly in the industrials and food sectors, where it can build value through operational support and creative financing.
Chow said she is currently seeing opportunity in food businesses that combine technology with consumer demand for clean, pasture-raised or organic products.
