“Early in my career, I wish I had been less afraid of failure and more confident in my abilities. Today, I encourage others to take on challenges, trust their judgment and view every experience as an opportunity to grow.”
Loren Riese approaches specialty finance with a strategic blend of rigorous risk discipline, collaborative leadership and forward-thinking vision. She began her financial services career as an analyst at Lehman Brothers and later served as a credit officer at Legacy Texas Bank, building a comprehensive foundation across commercial lending, portfolio management, governance and risk-based decision making. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Georgetown University and completed the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.
Riese’s career reached a defining inflection point when she joined Triumph, an organization whose culture of innovation provided the ideal backdrop for building capabilities from the ground up. Today, as executive vice president and credit risk officer, she leads the enterprise credit function, overseeing credit risk management, underwriting, portfolio performance and regulatory engagement across the organization. Her hallmark accomplishment at Triumph has been transforming previously disparate credit teams into a unified, enterprise-wide function. By aligning cross-functional teams, standardizing practices and establishing shared processes, she elevated credit risk from a traditional discipline into a proactive strategic partner for the business. Riese’s cross-functional leadership proved vital during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she spearheaded the risk framework for scaling Triumph’s PPP lending and forgiveness efforts across credit, operations, technology, compliance and legal divisions.
What sets Riese apart as a leader is her ability to navigate structural complexity while maintaining sound credit principles. Rather than viewing risk management as a restrictive boundary, she leverages clarity, structured collaboration and innovative problem solving to unlock strategic growth. Dedicated to helping the next generation thrive, she actively encourages rising women in financial services to contribute their ideas, take on challenges and recognize that confidence naturally follows action.
