“Confidence comes from stepping into opportunities, not waiting to earn it. Learning that lesson shaped how I lead — encouraging young talent to trust their instincts, speak up and embrace challenges before they feel completely ready.”
Nikki Rangra has spent nearly two decades helping shape FGI’s growth, bringing a cross-functional perspective and relationship-driven leadership to every stage of the firm’s evolution. Joining FGI nearly 20 years ago during its early stages, Rangra has been instrumental in scaling the firm into a premier global player. Today, as senior managing director, she oversees all aspects of the FGI Finance portfolio — including credit, treasury, operations, risk mitigation and client relationships. Her deep expertise has guided businesses through complex acquisitions, major transitions and strategic expansions.
What sets Rangra apart is her comprehensive, cross-functional perspective. Having worn many hats over two decades, she has played a pivotal role in developing FGI Finance’s portfolio management and operations and extending that blueprint to the risk and technology divisions. This multi-dimensional experience allows her to break down silos, foster alignment across teams and make holistic decisions. Her leadership was tested and proven early on during a challenging loan recovery involving fraud and bankruptcy. Pivoting from an operator to a strategic leader, she navigated unprecedented litigation to secure the firm’s largest recovery at the time. Her long-term dedication culminated in a powerful milestone: helping guide FGI through its recent acquisition by Goldman Sachs Alternatives, validating the world-class platform she helped build.
Beyond the balance sheet, Rangra is deeply committed to shaping a supportive firm culture. She has championed progressive initiatives, including enhanced maternity leave, formal mentorship and employee investment. Advocating for authenticity, Rangra encourages women rising in the industry to own their expertise and lead with confidence, ensuring their perspectives are heard and their contributions are valued.
