Global law firm Clifford Chance has hired partner Charles (Chase) B. Tanenbaum from Kirkland & Ellis, strengthening its US Funds & Investment Management practice.
Tanenbaum brings more than a decade of experience advising asset managers on fundraises across multiple strategies, including private equity, credit, real estate, co-invest structures, fund-of-one structures and single asset vehicles. He regularly guides clients through commercial, legal and operational matters, advises sponsors on complex “upper tier” arrangements, and has represented investment firms in their investment management M&A transactions and minority stake sales.
“Chase’s broad and deep experience across multiple structures and asset classes will complement our strong US offering and help us to continue serving our ever-growing client base within and outside the US at the highest possible level,” said Alexandra Davidson, Clifford Chance‘s Global Head of Funds & Investment Management.
Michael Sabin, Co-Head of US Funds & Investment Management, added: “We are excited to welcome Chase to the team. His experience in private fund formation will be immensely helpful for our sponsor clients. Further, his comprehensive knowledge in strategic transactions involving private fund managers will enhance our team’s offerings as private equity firms and asset managers go through succession planning, minority investments and other transformational transactions.”
Tanenbaum said: “I’m eager to join a global funds platform so seamlessly integrated, highly regarded and well positioned in the market. I look forward to joining the firm and collaborating with the team as we expand our funds offerings in the US and globally.”
