Vice President, Senior Accountant
Republic Business Credit
By Erin Rafter

With a degree in Marketing and Communications, Katherine Hebert Seghers didn’t anticipate a future in accounting. But life rarely follows a blueprint. Utilizing an ability to recognize potential and seize opportunities coupled with an unwavering commitment to growth, Seghers has spent the past decade building a career in the accounting field, proving that ambition, paired with hard work, carves its own trajectory.

Now, Seghers can’t help but feel like life has come full circle. Initially considered for an underwriting position, Republic’s leaders saw her potential and crafted a role around her skillset. When her marketing background later surfaced, Seghers embraced an opportunity to get back to her marketing roots.

As the VP, Senior Accountant at Republic Business Credit, Seghers powers key accounting functions alongside the controller, spearheads dynamic marketing efforts with the president, and drives critical executive projects forward. “This is one of the best career moves I’ve ever made,” Seghers shares, deeply valuing the direct C-suite collaboration. “It’s an experience I will never take for granted.”

It’s this gratitude that fuels her relentless drive for growth. Seghers can be found at industry conferences, in marketing webinars and participating in opportunities like the Secured Finance Network’s mentoring program. Reflecting on her impactful mentorship with Tina Capobianco, Seghers firmly believes, “The best training comes from the relationships you build.”

This core belief shapes her advice to emerging professionals: Speak up, stay relentlessly curious and always champion those around you. “Steve Jobs once said, ‘Great things in business are never done by one person; they’re done by a team of people.’ It’s true. Find your village — the support is invaluable.”

Currently thriving in a fulfilling role and engaged in projects she loves, Seghers is focused on a different kind of achievement: making a real, lasting difference — on her company, her colleagues and the broader specialty finance landscape she’s helping to shape.
