Breaking into the asset-based lending industry, navigating the sector’s intricacies and establishing herself amidst industry veterans initially seemed daunting for Shadi Jahangir. However, she has since realized the importance of building a robust support network in dealing with these challenges. Through active participation in networking events, seeking out mentorship opportunities and fostering genuine connections, Jahangir has cultivated such a network of allies who champion her growth and development, leveraging their guidance to gain invaluable insights and support. By recognizing the power of collaboration and drawing on the expertise of her network, Jahangir has been able to navigate hurdles and carve out a successful path in the ABL industry.

“Fostering meaningful relationships is paramount. Building trust and rapport with clients, colleagues and industry peers not only enhances collaboration but also opens doors to new opportunities,” Jahangir says. “Resilience is non-negotiable. Challenges and setbacks are inevitable, but it’s how we respond to them that defines our trajectory. By staying resilient in the face of adversity, I’ve emerged stronger and more determined to achieve my goals.”

width=Jahangir has been a partner in Blank Rome’s finance practice group since 2018. She has developed a reputation as an attorney who can craft innovation solutions for her clients, particularly in complex and sometimes novel areas. For example, she was one of the first attorneys in the U.S. to represent lenders in the Main Street Lending Program (MSLP) during the COVID-19 pandemic. In engineering creative solutions for her clients, Jahangir believes she is paving the way toward a legal profession and ABL industry that is more welcoming to women and people of color.

Looking ahead, Jahangir’s primary goal is to continue driving innovation and excellence in ABL while championing diversity and inclusion within the industry. Additionally, as a self-proclaimed “data geek,” Jahangir aims to leverage emerging technologies and data analytics to deliver greater value to Blank Rome’s clients.
