Greenberg Traurig Adds Restructuring Attorney to Boston Office

byABF Journal Staff

in People

Global law firm Greenberg Traurig added Kevin J. Walsh to its Boston office as a shareholder in the firm’s restructuring and bankruptcy practice.

Walsh has more than 25 years of experience advising debtors and creditors on bankruptcy and commercial law matters, including restructurings, workouts and commercial financing transactions, as well as the negotiation and documentation of commercial loans and credits.

“Kevin is an accomplished and respected restructuring attorney. He is another resource on a creative and savvy team that our clients can turn to for sophisticated advice. Our restructuring practice has seen significant growth this year with a number of notable hires, including Kevin,” Shari L. Heyen and David B. Kurzweil, co-chairs of Greenberg Traurig’s restructuring and bankruptcy practice, said.

“Greenberg Traurig is a top firm in restructuring and bankruptcy law, and I am thrilled to join such an elite team of professionals,” Walsh said. “The breadth and depth of the team, the collaborative nature across practices, and the firm’s global presence are great assets to my practice and my clients.”

“We are delighted to have Kevin join the Boston office. During this time of financial disruption, Kevin’s extensive experience representing clients in bankruptcy matters and commercial financing transactions strengthens our restructuring team and offerings, and complements well a variety of other key practices here at Greenberg Traurig,” David J. Dykeman and Terence P. McCourt, co-managing shareholders of Greenberg Traurig’s Boston office, said.

Walsh represents trustees, financial institutions, bondholders, insurers and other parties in bankruptcy cases in courts around the U.S. He also handles out-of-court workouts and receivership matters and advises clients on bankruptcy and other distressed sales (both buyer and seller perspectives). In addition, lenders and borrowers turn to Walsh for guidance on working capital and asset-based financings, as well as acquisition loans, syndicated credit facilities and debtor-in-possession financings, and he advises corporate boards on fiduciary duty issues around insolvency. His experience includes representing businesses as they reorganize in bankruptcy, and indenture trustees for bondholders with investments in varied industries ranging from senior living facilities, continuing care retirement communities and hospitals, to landfills and other project finance transactions in bankruptcy courts and receiverships across the country. Walsh joined Greenberg Traurig from Mintz Levin, where he was a partner.
