FinSoft Releases AssetWriter Version 2

byIan Koplin
June 16, 2021
in News

FinSoft completed updates to its AssetWriter Version 2 field examination software after four and a half years of development. FinSoft produces several asset-based lending software products that focus on due diligence for field examinations and operations.

AssetWriter Version 2 is a rewrite of code that is 25 years old. With the phase-out of Visual Basic Six and the need to enhance the product for the future, FinSoft rewrote the product from scratch. This product change puts all FinSoft products in the Microsoft Dot Net codebase.

This release expands the software to include more reports, a tighter integration of AssetReader data download software, an audit of the audit report to identify items that do not tick-and-tie, enhanced borrowing base options and reports and hundreds of small changes.

FinSoft’s managing and creative director, Joseph R. Caplan, CPA, noted users can still consolidate more than 130 reports and unlimited divisions in three or four mouse clicks and the user interface appearance is about 95% the same as before. The word processing portion is enhanced with table designs, and output templates also have been expanded.

“This rewrite is a massive undertaking, and it shows our fanatical attention to small details. We’re set up for the next set of products to come from FinSoft LLC in the coming years,” Caplan said.

Caplan noted existing users will get a free upgrade and training and that self-paced tutorials are already posted to the support page. Live update webinars will also be scheduled and recorded for those that cannot make the designated times for trainings and tutorials. Existing users should see updated download information and the webinar schedule in the next few days.
