Marathon Asset Management, a global credit investment manager, named Ed Cong its newest partner. Cong, who joined the firm 17 years ago, will continue to serve as senior portfolio manager for the firm’s structured credit and asset-based lending businesses. Cong is also a member of Marathon’s executive committee and investment committee.

“We are thrilled that Ed has become a partner of Marathon,” Bruce Richards, co-founder and CEO at Marathon, said. “Colleagues and clients alike have long admired Ed for his exceptional investing acumen and leadership qualities and this promotion is well-deserved recognition of his capabilities and dedication to our firm and investors. Ed has been a longstanding member of our executive committees and we look forward to his continued success as he helps build businesses within the firm and work closely with Marathon’s clients to help them achieve their investment goals.”

“I’m enormously honored to become a partner as we work diligently to utilize our dynamic, cutting-edge global credit investment platform to stay at the forefront of the asset-based lending markets and seek attractive risk-adjusted returns and differentiated solutions for our clients,” Cong said. “The Marathon team possesses the experience and expertise to source, structure and asset manage public and private credit transactions, which are critical drivers of success in today’s fast-moving market environment.”

“Ed’s investment expertise, integrity and teamwork have been incredibly beneficial to the firm and its growth over his many years at Marathon. We are excited to welcome him to our partnership and expect Ed to further enhance the partnership and our overall franchise in the years and decades ahead,” Louis Hanover, co-founder and chief investment officer at Marathon, said.
