Jacquie Duval, veteran private funds and family office partner, has joined Perkins Coie’s corporate and financial regulation practices in New York as the chair of private capital and fund formation, where she will help expand the firm’s capabilities serving private funds and family offices.

Duval brings over a decade of experience advising private equity firms, innovative family offices, emerging managers, venture funds and private foundations with respect to strategic planning, financial transactions, investment execution, domestic and international taxation and entity structuring.

“We’re thrilled to welcome a lawyer of Jacquie’s caliber to the firm and know our clients will benefit from her counsel and experience gleaned from senior roles with leading investment banks and respected investment groups,” Molly Moynihan, the firmwide chair of Perkins Coie’s investment management practice, said. “We’re deepening our capabilities to serve private funds and investors in New York and beyond, and Jacquie further positions us to provide sophisticated advice to benefit our clients in their investment activities.”

As part of her funds practice, Duval guides both established and emerging fund sponsors on fund formation, operational, transactional, tax and regulatory matters, including seeding and general partner staking arrangements, as well as secondary transactions and co-investment structures. She also frequently works with clients navigating investments in technology and biopharma companies. Duval is further committed to helping women-led family offices and entrepreneurs structure, grow and invest.

“Perkins Coie is well-known for advising leading entrepreneurs, innovators, and dynamic family offices and for providing top-tier legal counsel to its clients,” Duval said. “The firm continues to make significant investments in New York and globally – including in London and across Europe – and I’m excited by the opportunity to bring my private funds, family office and international background to bear for clients.”

Duval joins Perkins Coie from K&L Gates where she was a partner and a member of the asset management and investment funds and the tax practices. Her prior experience also includes roles with private family offices, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley in New York and London.

Duval received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Cornell Law School and her B.A., summa cum laude, from Syracuse University.
