Mesirow Financial has been recognized as the winner of two Deal of the Year Awards by The M&A Advisor. Mesirow Financial Consulting (MFC) won The M&A Advisor’s Outstanding M&A Deal of the Year award for its work on the restructuring of AMR Corp (American Airlines) and its sale to US Airways. Mesirow Financial Investment Banking was named the winner of The M&A Advisor’s Industrial Goods and Basic Resources M&A Deal of the Year award for its role as the financial advisor to EMTEQ, Inc. in its sale to BE Aerospace.

MFC served as the financial advisor to the official committee of unsecured creditors of American Airlines, successfully advancing the interests of the creditors during AMR’s bankruptcy case that led to the reorganization of AMR and its merger with US Airways.

“AMR represents one of the largest and most complex restructurings in recent history,” said Ralph Tuliano, chief executive officer of MFC. “Our team brought a commendable amount of energy, knowledge and dedication to the table to make this a successful transaction for all parties involved. I am very proud of them.”

Mesirow Financial Investment Banking served as the financial advisor to EMTEQ, maximizing shareholder value by partnering their client with a buyer committed to investing in the company’s future growth. The combination of EMTEQ and BE Aerospace creates new and innovative solutions for the global aerospace industry.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for our work and to assist in the continued growth of two industry leaders,” said Andrew Carolus, managing director.

Winners were announced at the 13th Annual M&A Advisor Awards Gala on Monday, November 17 at the New York Athletic Club.
