GE Capital’s senior executive counsel of strategic initiatives, Barbara Daniele, was named to the 2015 DirectWomen Board Institute.

DirectWomen prepares women lawyers to serve on the boards of public companies. Now in its seventh year, the Board Institute provides a select group of 21 experienced, accomplished individuals with training on key issues facing corporate directors as well as opportunities for interaction with leading business executives, directors, search firm consultants and Board Institute alumnae.

Daniele, who has 35-plus years of legal experience and business, currently serves on two not-for-profit boards. She’s vice chair for the International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution. She is also chair of the governance committee of the School of the World, a non-for-profit that seeks to enhance literacy in developing countries.

“I’ve dedicated my professional life to enhancing shareholder value and supporting diverse populations in the corporate world while operating with the highest integrity,” she said. “I look forward to participating in the DirectWomen Institute to help tackle similar issues.”

Daniele was appointed senior executive counsel of strategic initiatives for GE Capital, Americas in October 2014. She’s responsible for leading projects geared at optimizing the efficiency of the company’s legal function as well as its productivity and relationships with external law firms. Daniele joined GE in 1996 and had been general counsel of GE Capital, Americas since 2008.
