William A Strauss, senior economist and economic advisor in the Economic Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, will speak at a January 10, 2013 breakfast forum hosted by the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association.

Strauss will discuss the performance of the overall macro economy with specific attention to key economic sectors and indicators, and provide his insight about how the economy should perform in 2014. He’ll also provide his analysis on what has hindered economic recovery even though the “Great Recession” ended more than four years ago.

“Bill is a well-known and much respected expert on many industry sectors that are critical to the overall economic success for the Midwest, such as manufacturing and automotive,” says Kevin Krakora, president, Chicago/Midwest TMA. “We are honored to have him as our speaker and look forward to his insight and analysis.”

Strauss joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in 1982. His chief responsibilities include analyzing the current performance of both the Midwest economy and the manufacturing sector for use in monetary policy. He is a frequent speaker and conducts economic workshops and industrial roundtables throughout the year.
